PLATFORM SHELTER - Konkan Railways, Kudal, Sindhudurg District
Funding: Centre for Indian Bamboo Resource and Technology, New Delhi     The Konkan Railway required permanent, low maintenance, aesthetic, 20 seater structures to be installed at intervals, along their platforms, to shelter the waiting passengers. Due to the humid and saline climate of the region mild steel was not a feasible choice. Out of the few shelters I designed for them, using treated bamboo poles, bamboo corrugated boards and locally available laterite, a demonstrative prototype was made for one option.
