Client: Crafts Council of India, Chennai         A cost effective, mobile display system had to be created for Kamala that would suit the existing finished space, use the abundant ambient light as well become the store’s identity. The proposed system is a combination of mild steel pipes, clear glass shelves and prefabricated plywood storage bases. The use of glass does away with the standard opaque plywood walls and makes the display units ‘see through’. The height of the mobile display units can be altered and pipe and disk fixtures can replace the glass shelves wherever the merchandise needs to be hung. The dark storage top is meant to offset the colourful merchandize while the vertical laminate looks like the handmade khadi fabric.
