KHAJU HOUSE - A grocery and dry fruits store, Bandar Road , Vijayawada
Client: Khaju House Pvt. Ltd., Suhas Majeti, Vijayawada       The brief was to design a model store and display systems that could be
replicated to a chain of 40 franchisee stores, primarily dealing in
grocery, dry fruits, spices and packed eatables. We designed systems
that are easily cleanable and transparent, showing the bulk of the
products. They encourage a new way of retailing where the customers can
themselves weigh and purchase loose grains and spices that were
traditionally sold over the counter. Customized, easily cleanable
gravity bins and bulk bins have been designed and locally fabricated.
We tried to conjure up the imagery of the gunny sack (reminiscent of the
wholesale dryfruits and grain trade) in the iron mesh ceiling.
