MOBILE EYE CLINIC - Bangalore
Client: Disha Private Limited, Bangalore

Disha provides eye care facilities to rural areas of Bangalore that lack in eye care services. It needs to transport eye care equipment, staff, patients, medicines and spectacles for sale,  between their operation theatre, located on the fringes of the city, and the villages where the camps are conducted.
For this, a self sufficient mobile eye care clinic was designed - a bus that can transform into a camp instead of depending on the villages for  facilities like shelter, furniture and electricity.  The design of the bus, both while in transit and in camp mode, were conceived to protect the people and equipment from the elements, eliminate the need to shift/shuffle furniture, minimize time and effort required for set-up and pack-up of camp, ensure a smooth uni-directional movement of patients without any confusion, maximize passenger seating without  compromising on the ergonomics, ensure good ventilation for the non-air-conditioned bus and provide easily maintainable flattering interiors.  Also designed a low-cost,  manually operated awning customized for the camp.
